Career Conference

You know I am so glad that with the job I do I get to wear many hats. I don't just sell makeup and skin care, I am a business owner, a mentor, a councilor, a friend, a sister (when I've never had sisters) I get to help people grow and myself grow, I get to teach and learn, pass on knowledge and experiences and if they can help others I've had success full circle in my life and there is nothing better than that!

Well after almost a week of recovering from my field crashing I'm about ready to be back out and about.
I am greatfull this day to be able to say that I have a job that gives me the ability to stay home when I am sick or injured. I am thankful for having team members and leaders that care about my well being and recovery and also my growth.
If it wern't for my Career with Mary Kay this week could have been worse than just having to lay back and take a break. It could've meant termination of employment with any other corporate job.
I am lucky today to have the family and friends and career that I have I only hope that in the future I will be able to help others through their lives as they have helped me through mine.
This week I created a excel file for keeping track of my referral cards that I get back from clients. I was having a hard time keeping track of them on cards so what I have done is write down all of the information on a file; however, I didn't get rid of the cards I stored them for reference in a business card holder one of the nice ones that are like a book.
In this way I will be able to not only keep track of how many contacts I have but also to help me keep track of things such as when I called these clients, if they answered, if I left a message, or if they made a reorder.
This way I can continue to make sure I provide quality customer service to my clients.

Alaska Job Corps Colony Days Holiday Bazaar 12/11/11

This weekend on saturday I spent the day at the Alaska Job Corps center attending the Palmer Colony Days Holiday Bazaar.
There was a good amount of traffic the Job Corps buses were running every hour bringing folks by to see the different artisans that were showing and selling their wears.
All but two vendors showed up there were about forty tables in the gym.
This day I brought my mothers yarns and fibers to sell and also to advertise our shop out in Big Lake.
I spoke with lots of people both the vendors that were there and people coming through and shopping.
I was able to tell about my moms artwork and what we teach, including the spinning classes that mom teaches and the Felting and Needle Felting classes that I teach.
It was fun and a great experience, even though sales were not high I was able to make back my table space fee as well as make a little profit.
So in the long run it was a great day and worth the time.
I think for sure by next year I will keep this Bazaar on my list of Craft fairs that I will attend.

Big Lake Lions Holliday Bazaar December 3rd & 4th

The first day was great there was a fare amount of people.
In the end i got fourteen names and numbers that I can call for appointments.
I was there eight hours that makes almost two people per hour on a saterday in Big Lake.
Sunday; however, was really slow. by 3pm it was still very dead. I had figured at least by noon it would have picked up but it really didn't. I truly believe that it was the bad weather that weekend that stopped people from coming out. I spoke with other vendors that had been going to this bazaar for years and they said this was the worst outcome they had seen for this bazaar.
I think that in the future I will definitely want to go to this bazaar again but if it wasn't for the other vendors that i talked to I probably would only go to the first day the Saturday I will have to see how next year goes.
All in all the bazaar was a good thing for me I got a total of eighteen leads. I believe it is a truly useful way to make connections with the community and meet new people and clients.

So I have decided to make a blog devoted to my marketing and Mary Kay. In this blog I plan to write about my successes and lessons on what and how I am doing in my business. Posting pictures of my bazaar tables and also if my adventures of where my business take me. In saying this I also would like to state that if anyone would like any Mary Kay products please checkout my website at www.marykay.com/shilohm or comment and let me know what you would like.
